Transgender Law Center (TLC)
Valuing authenticity, equality, and trust, TLC “changes law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live [sic] free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression.”

Interfaith Alliance
The Interfaith Alliance “works to ensure that faith and freedom flourish so that individuals can worship freely or not worship at all, so they can embrace matters of personal conscience without fear of government intrusion, and so that all can live in a vibrant, healthy society.”

The American Association of University Women (AAUW)
The AAUW is committed to “bring[ing] people together for the common goal of breaking through educational and economic barriers for women and girls.”

American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania (ACLU)
The ACLU of Pennsylvania is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to defending the rights and freedoms of women and minorities, students, immigrants, those of distinctive sexual orientation, and “others who have seen bias and bigotry threaten the rights afforded to all of us in this country by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.”

RESULTS
Through volunteer work and advising policy making, RESULTS aims to “use their voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty.”

The PERSAD Center
PERSAD Center is a human service organization whose mission is to improve the well-being of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) communities, and the HIV/AIDS communities.

Disability Awareness and Support: This course promotes equal opportunity and the full participation of students with disabilities in higher education by helping participants advance their awareness of the meaning of accessibility in education.

Gender & Sexuality: Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace: This course discusses the field of gender, sexuality, women’s studies, and LGBTQIA identities using a range of interdisciplinary concepts that analyze how identity shapes our experiences in culture and in the workplace.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
This site specifies the role and authority of the EEOC to enforce federal discrimination laws in the workplace.

U.S. Department of Education: Office for Civil Rights (OCR)
Much like the EEOC, the OCR enforces federal discrimination laws in academic environments.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Committed to “eliminate[ing] housing discrimination, promot[ing] economic opportunity, and achiev[ing] diverse, inclusive communities.”  This website provides information on programs, rules, and initiatives for “reasonable accommodations under fair housing.”

U.S. Commission on Civil Rights
Provides recent reports, Congressional testimony, meeting transcripts, and other correspondence on the topic of current, national civil rights policies and laws.

Association of American Colleges & Universities: Diversity, Equity , and Student Success
Through its Office of Diversity, Equity, and Student Success, AAC&U seeks to fully prepare the next generation of strategic leaders and thinkers to advance equity, inclusion, and social justice through higher levels of personal and social responsibility.

Diverse: Issues in Higher Education

INSIGHT into Diversity

University of Pittsburgh Nondiscrimination Policy Statement
This site details Pitt’s definitions and procedures regarding nondiscrimination, harassment, and affirmative action.

Disability Resources and Services (DRS): Information for Instructors
DRS’ site provides faculty with policies, protocol, and support in helping students with disabilities obtain equitable access to education.
